Duke, Georgia Tech Receive Weekly ACC Softball Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Georgia Tech catcher Emma Kauf has been named the ACC Softball Player of the Week, while fellow Yellow Jacket Blake Neleman and Duke’s Peyton St. George were selected as Co-Pitchers of the Week.

A freshman from Lincoln, Nebraska, Kauf hit better than .500 in four of five games Georgia Tech played on the week. She leads the conference in batting average (.692), hits (9), doubles (4), total bases (19) and is tied for the lead in walks (6). She has the second-highest mark in the league in runs scored (7) and RBI (7). The leadoff hitter ranks third in the ACC in slugging percentage (1.462) and is tied for third in home runs (2).

Neleman was a major factor in Georgia Tech's best start since 2013, tossing three complete games. She currently holds the second-best ERA in the ACC at 0.41 through 17 innings of work with the most starts (3) and the most wins (3) in the league. Hailing from Marietta, Georgia, the freshman currently leads the conference in strikeouts (29) and is tied for the most shutouts (2). In individual games, she piled up double digit strikeouts in two of her three starts on the weekend, just missing double digits against Radford with nine. Neleman never allowed more than one hit in any given inning through three starts.

A senior from Mechanicsville, Virginia, St. George threw a complete game to help her team to an 8-4 road victory over No. 5 LSU on opening day. St. George retired the first 11 batters before LSU broke up the no-hitter in the fourth inning. She finished the game allowing three hits but tallied eight strikeouts. With the win, Duke notched its second program victory over a ranked opponent (shut out No. 4 Texas, 1-0, in 2020) with St. George throwing complete games in both contests.
