GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Georgia Tech sophomore shortstop Jin Sileo and NC State graduate student outfielder Brittany Jackson have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Co-Players of the Week, while Virginia Tech freshman Emma Lemley earned ACC Pitcher of the Week honors for the third time this season.
The ACC softball weekly awards are voted on by a panel from both the schools and the conference office.
Sileo turned in a stellar week at the plate and in the field to lead the Yellow Jackets to a 5-0 week. She batted .533 (8-for-15) with a pair of doubles and two RBI, seven runs scored, three walks and five stolen bases. The Dacula, Georgia, native went 2-for-4 while scoring two crucial runs, including Georgia Tech’s first and final run of the game as the Yellow Jackets opened the series against the 49ers with a walkoff 3-2 victory in 10 innings. Sileo tallied at least two hits or scored two runs in all five games, highlighted by a 2-for-3 showing with two runs, an RBI and a double in the series finale against Charlotte, a team ranked in the top 25 earlier this season.
Jackson led NC State to a series victory at Boston College and a midweek win against East Carolina, after tallying a .615 batting average with eight hits, three RBI, three runs, two doubles and two walks. She logged two hits in all four games last week with her best showing in game two, as she was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored to lift the Wolfpack to the series win. Hailing from Mansfield, Texas, Jackson hit .750 in the series with the Eagles to give NC State its first ACC road series win.
Lemley went 2-0 last week for the second-ranked Hokies, leading the squad to wins over No. 15 Tennessee and Louisville. She struck out four batters in four innings pitched with one earned run allowed to earn the win over the Volunteers in Knoxville. The Forest, Virginia, freshman followed with her fifth shutout of the season against Louisville on Saturday. Lemley struck out 13, allowed just three hits and only one runner to reach third base. She closed out Sunday’s 7-4 win against the Cardinals to secure her second save of the season. Lemley ended the week with a 0.58 ERA over 12 innings pitched with 17 strikeouts and only one earned run.
