GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – The start lists and events schedule is set for the 2022 NCAA Division I Track and Field Outdoor Championships, which will be held Wednesday through Saturday (June 8-11) at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
More than 130 Atlantic Coast Conferences student-athletes have qualified to compete in this year’s Championships. The participants in individual and relay events qualified through competition at preliminary round sites held May 25-28 in Bloomington, Indiana, and Fayetteville, Arkansas. ACC student-athletes qualified at the Bloomington site. Heptathlon and decathlon participants will see their first 2022 NCAA competition at the finals.
The men’s competition will take place Wednesday, June 8, and Friday, June 10. The women will compete Thursday, June 9, and Saturday, June 11.
The ESPN networks will have coverage all four days of the championships. Wednesday’s and Friday’s track events will be broadcasted live on ESPN2. Thursday’s track action will be live on ESPNU while Saturday’s races on the track will be broadcasted on ESPN. All field events can be seen via live stream on ESPN3.
Seventeen ACC times and marks (nine women’s and eight men’s) currently rank among the nation’s top five for the 2022 season. That includes three No. 1 men’s rankings – Florida State’s Trey Cunningham in the men’s 110 hurdles, FSU’s Adriaan Wildschutt in the men’s 10K and Virginia’s Ethan Dabbs in the javelin – and No. 1 rankings by NC State’s Katelyn Tuohy in both the women’s 1,500 and 5,000 meters.
Florida State's Cunningham ran into a 1.5 m/s headwind in the 110-meter hurdles at the recent East Preliminary and finished in 13.07 seconds, a current world-leading time. The Seminoles’ 4x100 relay team ran the fastest time of any program at any 2022 preliminary meet. The Seminole quartet of Taylor Banks, Amir Willis, Don’dre Swint and Jo’Vaughn Martin ran 38.51, the second-fastest time in the NCAA this season.
NC State’s Tuohy set a new East Preliminary record in the 5000 meters, finishing in 15:27.14. Tuohy's time led the east, where seven women all finished under the previous record.
