CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – The team seedings and tournament bracket have been set for the 2023 Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Championship, which will be held Oct. 31, Nov. 1 and Nov. 3 at the University of Virginia’s Turf Field in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Six-time reigning conference champion North Carolina (12-3, 5-1 ACC) is the No. 1 seed and earned a bye into Wednesday’s 1 p.m. semifinal game. The Tar Heels will face the winner of Tuesday’s 1 p.m. quarterfinal matchup between No. 4 Virginia (11-5, 3-3) and No. 5 Syracuse (10-6, 2-4).
In the second game Tuesday, No. 2 Duke (14-3, 5-1) will play No. 7 Wake Forest (7-8, 1-5) at 3:30 p.m. The Tuesday nightcap will feature No. 3 Louisville (13-5, 3-3) taking on No. 6 Boston College (11-6, 2-4) at 6 p.m. The winners of these two games will play the second contest on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
The championship game will be played at 7 p.m. Friday.
ACC Network will show all tournament action live, with Leah Secondo and Suzanne Bush on the call.
Six ACC programs are ranked in the NFHCA Top 20 this week. Duke is No. 2 and followed by No. 4 North Carolina, No. 5 Virginia, No. 10 Syracuse, No. 12 Louisville and No. 13 Boston College.
ACC teams have won 22 NCAA Field Hockey Championships, including 15 of the last 21. The ACC has placed at least one team in the NCAA title game in 22 of the last 24 NCAA Championships – and 30 times in the last 33 years. In the ACC’s first 42 years as an NCAA Field Hockey conference, league teams have accounted for more than half the total appearances in the national title game (43 of 84).
Admission is free for the 2023 ACC Championship. All seating is general admission, first come, first served. Parking is also free at John Paul Jones Arena.
