CARY, N.C. (theACC.com) - No. 4 seed Clemson and No. 7 North Carolina matchup in the title game of the 2023 ACC Men's Soccer Championship on Sunday at noon at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. ESPNU has the broadcast.
Among current ACC programs, Virginia leads with 16 ACC Championships, and Clemson is second (15). UVA has captured a league-best 11 tournament titles, while Clemson has won four (1998, 2001, 2014, 2020) and UNC three (1987, 2000, 2011).
Clemson is appearing in its 13th ACC Championship game, including its fourth in the last five seasons. UNC is making its ninth ACC championship game and first since 2018.
In the latest NCAA RPI, released Monday, nine ACC teams are among the top 30: Notre Dame (2), Virginia (6), North Carolina (9), Wake Forest (12), Louisville (14), Duke (16), Syracuse (22), Clemson (26) and Pitt (29).

Noting ACC Men's Soccer
• This is the 37th ACC Men's Soccer Championship.
• In the last six ACC Championships, there have been six different champions. A UNC championship would give the ACC seven different champions in the last seven seasons. Wake Forest (2016 and 2017) is the league's last repeat league champion.
• Eight ACC teams are ranked in the United Soccer Coaches poll, the most of any conference. Notre Dame is No. 4 this week and is followed by Wake Forest (6), North Carolina (7), Duke (8), Virginia (11), Clemson (14), Syracuse (18) and Louisville (20).
• Five ACC teams earned spots in the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Committee top 16 ranking, released Oct. 20: Notre Dame (3), Wake Forest (8), Clemson (9), Duke (10) and Virginia (15).
• Nine ACC teams have been ranked for at least one week this season.
• UNC is looking to join Syracuse (2015) and Notre Dame (2022) as the only teams to capture the championship after playing four matches. The Tar Heels last won the ACC title in 2011 under Carlos Somoano.
• Clemson's last ACC championship came in 2020. Head coach Mike Noonan has won ACC crowns (2014, 2020).
• Pitt currently boasts the nation's top Strength of Schedule. Virginia (third), North Carolina (seventh), Notre Dame (eighth), Virginia Tech (14th), Wake Forest (18th), Syracuse (20th) and Clemson (27th) also are among the national leaders.
• ACC teams finished 58-16-18 (72.8% win pct.) in non-conference action – the most wins and best win percentage of any conference.
• The final cross-divisional games were played during the second-to-last weekend of the season. Since the ACC went to the division format in 2014, Atlantic and Coastal teams finished in a dead heat, 72-72-24, although Coastal teams held a 10-5-3 edge this season.
• Clemson leads the nation in scoring (2.94/game), while Duke (second, 2.88), Notre Dame (12th, 2.29), Louisville (19th, 2.05) and Wake Forest (21st, 2.0) are among the top 25.
• North Carolina (fourth, 0.61), Notre Dame (ninth, 0.71) and Wake Forest (17th, 0.78) are among the top teams nationally in scoring defense.
• Duke's Forster Ajago is tied for third nationally in goals this season with 14, one off the national lead. UVA's Stephen Annor Gyamfi and Duke's Ulfur Bjornsson are tied for second nationally among all freshmen with a dozen goals.
• UNC's Andrew Cordes (0.47) ranks third nationally in goals against average.
• Five ACC players were selected to the 2023 Hermann Trophy Watch List: F Alex Meinhard (Clemson), F Gage Guerra (Louisville), D Vemund Hole Vik (UNC), M Filip Mirkovic (Pitt) and D Garrison Tubbs (Wake).
• ACC teams have won 19 NCAA men’s soccer championships, including 10 since 2001. Syracuse won its first national championship in 2022.
• Syracuse won its first NCAA championship in program history in 2022. Following 110 minutes and a 2-2 draw, the No. 3 seed Orange outlasted No. 13 Indiana, 7-6, in a penalty-kick shootout.
• Five active ACC head coaches have won national championships as a head coach: Mike Noonan (Clemson), Carlos Somoano (UNC), Jay Vidovich (Pitt), Ian McIntyre (Syracuse) and George Gelnovatch (Virginia).
• Seven current ACC programs have won at least one national championship, the most of any conference. Eleven different league programs have reached the Men's College Cup. Sixty-three ACC teams have reached the Men's College Cup all-time.
