Noting ACC Baseball  – March 28
• Wake Forest and Virginia sit atop their respective divisions and high in the national polls following impressive series sweeps last weekend. The Demon Deacons took three straight from Miami for the first time in program history, running their season record at home to 18-1 and surpassing the 20-win plateau less than halfway into the regular season. Wake Forest continues to be ranked No. 2 nationally by the USA Today Coaches Poll and D1Baseball and is no lower than No. 4 in any of this week’s major national rankings.
• Virginia is ranked as high as No. 3 nationally following its sweep of Florida State in Charlottesville. The Cavaliers, who are 16-0 at home this season, have matched their best start in program history with 22 wins in 24 games. The Cavaliers were also 22-2 in 2013 and 2022. Virginia has been 23-2 through 25 games, three times – 2011, 2013 and 2022.
•  Virginia (22-2) is slated to play host to Old Dominion (20-4) on Tuesday at 3 p.m. Virginia, Wake Forest and ODU are three of the 11 20-win teams in college baseball. The UVA-ODU game will mark the third time two 20-win teams have played one another this season, following last Saturday’s doubleheader between No. 1 LSU and No. 6 Arkansas.
• Other matchups on Tuesday’s busy non-conference slate for ACC teams include No. 14 Boston College at No. 20 UConn. Florida State’s matchup versus No. 3 Florida in the Sunshine Classic in Jacksonville, Florida was postponed and rescheduled for May 2. ACC teams own a 167-45 record (.788) versus outside opposition, including a 125-20 mark at home.
•  Clemson welcomes No. 2 Wake Forest on Thursday at 7 p.m. for what will be the third of eight conference games that ACC Network will feature on Thursday nights throughout the spring, with all eight contests being conference matchups. Upcoming games following this week include Clemson at Florida State (April 6, 8 p.m.), Miami at North Carolina (April 13, 7 p.m.), Miami at Louisville (April 27, 7 p.m.), NC State at Notre Dame (May 4, 7 p.m.) and Florida State at Louisville (May 18, 7 p.m.). In addition to the Thursday games, ACCN coverage in 2023 will be highlighted by all four days of pool play and the semifinals of the ACC Baseball Championship May 23-28 from Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, N.C. ESPN2 will televise the title game on Sunday, May 28.
• Saturday’s Florida State at Miami game will now be played at  2 p.m. and carried on ACC Network Extra. ACC Network requested the time change to not conflict with Miami men’s basketball’s first Final Four appearance in program history.
• Duke’s Chris Pollard became the sixth active ACC head coach to reach 700 victories for his career during last weekend’s action. Georgia Tech’s Danny Hall leads active Division I head coaches with 1,364 career wins, and NC State’s Elliott Avent ranks fifth with 1,203.
