GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com ) –  Wake Forest sophomore first baseman Nick Kurtz has been selected the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week, while Virginia Tech sophomore right-hander Drue Hackenberg earned ACC Pitcher of the Week accolades. Kurtz earned the award for the second time this season, while Hackenberg claimed his first weekly honor.

ACC baseball honors are determined by a vote of a select 15-member media panel and announced on Mondays throughout the regular season.

Kurtz hit .583 (7-for-12) with three home runs, 13 RBI and scored eight times in Wake Forest’s three-win week. The Lancaster, Pennsylvania, native slugged 1.417 and tallied a .762 on-base percentage with four extra-base hits and nine walks. The sophomore’s week was highlighted by a nine-RBI performance in Saturday’s win over Pitt, as he finished 4-for-5 with a three-run homer, a two-run double and a pair of two-run singles becoming the first Demon Deacon since 2019 to drive in nine or more runs in a game.

Hackenberg tossed just the second complete game by an ACC pitcher this season, as he earned the win in Saturday’s one-run victory at Florida State. The Palmyra, Virginia, native became the first Hokie starter since 2019 to go the distance, as he recorded a career-high 12 strikeouts. The sophomore did not allow a walk for the outing and closed out the final frame by leaving the potential winning run in scoring position.
