 - The Atlantic Coast Conference will boast half of the teams competing in the quarterfinals of the 2023 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship after Boston College, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Syracuse won second-round games Sunday. The ACC is the only conference with multiple teams in the quarterfinals.

This marks the fourth consecutive tournament where at least three ACC teams have advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals.

The quarterfinals will be held on Thursday on campus sites, with ESPNU carrying all four contests. No. 2 seed Syracuse starts the day with a noon home game against No. 7 seed James Madison. No. 3 seed Boston College plays host to Notre Dame at 2:30 p.m. No. 4 seed North Carolina entertains No. 5 seed Denver at 5 p.m. The winners advance to the NCAA's Championship Weekend, which will be held May 26 and 28 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina.

Syracuse downed Johns Hopkins, 25-8, tying the school record for most goals in a game. Meaghan Tyrrell and Emma Tyrrell combined for 17 points in the victory. Emma Tyrrell scored a career-high seven goals, which tie for the most goals by an Orange player in an NCAA Tournament game.

Boston College won a 9-7 defensive struggle over Penn. A trio of Eagles scored twice: Jenn Medjid, Mckenna Davis and Kayla Martello. Shea Dolce posted eight saves in the win.

North Carolina made a late push to pull away for a 16-12 win over Richmond. Melissa Sconone recorded a hat trick for the Tar Heels.

Notre Dame survived a late push by No. 6 seed Florida to post a 16-15 win in Gainesville, Florida. Kasey Choma scored the game-winning goal with 10.1 seconds left on the clock to send the Irish to the quarters.

Virginia saw its season end Friday night with a 16-14 defeat against Albany in Denver, Colorado.
