CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - The Atlantic Coast Conference kicks off a big week of swimming and diving on Wednesday, November 20, as 14 of the 15 ACC Swimming and Diving programs will hit the water in a five-day stretch.
SMU will host the SMU Invitational from November 20-23. The Mustangs will host ACC foes North Carolina and Miami, along with Hawai’i, Drury, BYU, North Texas and Wyoming.
Pitt and Stanford will head to Austin, Texas, for the swimming-only Texas Invitational. Both teams participated in the diving-only Texas Invitational last weekend, where Stanford’s Jack Ryan swept the boards to take home two individual titles.
Virginia takes on Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee, this weekend in the Tennessee Invitational. The event will be scored as a double-dual meet between Tennessee, Virginia, Kentucky and UNC Asheville in diving only. Virginia’s women’s swimming and diving team leads the nation in eight out of 12 events.
North Carolina has a busy weekend ahead of them, with the swimming and diving teams heading in different directions. The UNC diving team will travel to Dallas, Texas, to hit the boards in the SMU Invitational while the swimming teams will cross the border to Columbia, South Carolina, for the South Carolina Invitational.
Louisville and Notre Dame will travel to Columbus, Ohio, for the Ohio State Fall Invite. Last time in the water, the Louisville women defeated Notre Dame, 220-78, while the men took down Purdue 194-105. Despite falling to the Cardinals, the Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving team broke a school record in the 200 free relay, highlighted by Hollie Widdows, Jess Geriane, Imogen Meers and Madelyn Christman, who posted a time of 1:27.84. Their record broke the previous mark of 1:28.81, set in 2018.
NC State will host Virginia Tech and Duke in the Wolfpack Elite GAC Invite. The invitational will also include Arizona State, Army, Northwestern and Arizona. This will take place November 21-23, in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Georgia Tech will welcome Florida State into Atlanta, Georgia, for the Georgia Tech Invite. The invite will also include Auburn and Michigan. All four teams on the men’s side are ranked with Auburn at No. 15, Michigan at No. 17, Georgia Tech at No. 19 and Florida State at No. 24.
Boston College heads across town to the Boston University Terrier Invitational. Fairfield, NJIT, UMass, Bryant (diving) and Babson (diving) will also participate in the meet.

- In the eighth set of weekly honors for the 2024 ACC Swimming & Diving season, Stanford’s Jack Ryan was named the ACC Men’s Diver of the Week while Miami’s Mia Vallée was named ACC Women’s Diver of the Week.
- In the most recent CSCAA Division I Men’s Top 25 Poll, No. 5 California, No. 6 NC State, No. 8 Stanford and No. 9 Louisville hold down the top 10. North Carolina lands at No. 12, Virginia Tech at No. 13, Georgia Tech at No. 19, Virginia at No. 21 and Florida State at No. 24 to round out the top 25. The ACC has the most teams in the Top 25 among all conferences.

- Boston College entered the 2024 season under the new leadership of head swimming and diving coach Dara Torres. Torres is a five-time Olympian, six-time World Record holder, and a four-time gold medalist.
- Dario di Fazio was named the head diving coach for Miami ahead of the 2024. Di Fazio has been the assistant diving coach at Miami for the past 28 years.
- Pitt head diving coach Katie Kasprzak was named the 2024 ACC Men’s Diving Coach of the Year. She is the first female to ever win an ACC Coach of the Year Award in either men’s or women’s swimming and diving.
- Stanford women’s swimming and diving holds the title of the only program in the nation to finish in the top 10 in every NCAA Championship dating back to the 1975-76 season.
- In the 2024 Paris Olympics, ACC swimming and diving student-athletes brought home 18 gold medals, 22 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals for Team USA. NC State’s David Betlehem took home a bronze medal for Hungary.
