ACC Announces Final 2024 Outdoor Track and Field Performers of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – In the final week of the regular season, North Carolina and Virginia Tech swept the Atlantic Coast Conference Outdoor Track and Field weekly awards. The 15 ACC teams will head to Atlanta, Georgia, this week to compete in the 2024 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Georgia Tech.

 
Virginia Tech’s Nick Plant and Lindsey Butler swept the ACC Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track Athletes of the Week, while North Carolina’s Patrick Crockett was named the ACC Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

ACC Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Nick Plant, So., Virginia Tech, Canfield, Ohio
Plant won the gold medal in the men's 800m at the Hill City Twilight, clocking in a personal-best time of 1:46.35, ranking second on the Hokies’ all-time performance list. The sophomore from Canfield, Ohio ended the regular season ranked 13th nationally in the 800m and 14th in the 1500m (3:38.93), set at the Wake Forest Invitational on Apr. 19. In the ACC, he ranks second in the 800m and fourth in the 1500m.
 
ACC Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Lindsey Butler, Sr., Virginia Tech, Corning, N.Y.
Butler won the women's 800-meter at the Hill City Twilight with a season-best time of 2:02.65, which ranks 17th in the NCAA. Butler ranks third nationally in the 1500 meter after breaking the Virginia Tech record with a time of 4:07.96 while competing in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Throughout the ACC, Butler ranks third in 800-meter and first in the 1500 meter run.
 
ACC Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Patrick Crockett, Sr., North Carolina, Alexandria, Va.
Crockett won the javelin event at the Liberty Qualifiers with a personal record of 62.77m, his second personal record in as many weeks. The senior from Alexandria, Virginia ranks him eighth in the ACC in the javelin throw.
