ACC Announces Men’s Tennis Players of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Atlantic Coast Conference student-athletes from Virginia and Wake Forest shared the second week of ACC Men’s Tennis weekly honors for the 2025 spring season, which included matches from January 13-19.  Virginia’s Dylan Dietrich and Keegan Rice were named ACC Men’s Tennis Player and Freshman of the Week, respectively, while the Wake Forest duo of DK Suresh Ekambaram and Stefan Dostanic earned Doubles Team of the Week honors.
 
ACC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Dylan Dietrich, Soph., Virginia, Zurich, Switzerland
Dietrich kicked off his spring season with a perfect 2-0 singles record on the top court last week. Dietrich defeated Casey Hoole from South Carolina 6-2, 6-3 in Virginia's 4-1 win over the No. 15 Gamecocks on Thursday, January 16. Dietrich also topped No. 70 Connor van Schalkwyk from Old Dominion 7-6 (6), 3-6, 7-6 (4) to help take down the Monarchs 6-1 on Sunday, January 19. In doubles action, Dietrich and partner Mans Dahlberg won both of their matches, helping Virginia win the doubles point in both non-conference contests on the week.
 
ACC Men’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
DK Suresh Ekambaram, Jr., Wake Forest, Chennai, India
Stefan Dostanic, Grad., Wake Forest, Irvine, California
In the Demon Deacons' first road match of the spring season, Dostanic partnered with Suresh Ekambaram on court one and easily handled the No. 3 nationally ranked doubles pair of Marko Miladinovic and Oskar Brostrom Poulsen of Baylor for a 6-3 win to claim the doubles point en route to a 4-0 team win on Friday, January 17.
 
ACC Men’s Tennis Freshman of the Week
Keegan Rice, Fr., Virginia, Regina, Canada
Virginia opened its spring slate with a pair of wins, highlighted by the play of Rice. Rice picked up a ranked win in his collegiate dual match debut, winning against No. 55 Sean Daryabeigi of No. 15 South Carolina on court four at 6-7 (6), 7-5, 3-0 (Retired) on Thursday.  Rice followed that win up with a 6-4, 7-6 (4) victory over Cody van Schalkwyk of Old Dominion at the No. 3 singles flight in the Cavaliers’ 6-1 win.
 
In doubles play, Rice teamed up with James Hopper at the No. 2 position to post a 6-3 win over ODU’s No. 41 nationally ranked duo of Adam Majchrzak and Cosme Rolland to clinch the doubles point.
