Week 7 ACC Football Players of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference has announced its Football Players of the Week following standout performances in Week 7. Honorees were selected by a vote of a select media panel.
 
QUARTERBACK – Mason Heintschel, Fr., QB, Pitt (Oregon, Ohio)
  • Completed 21-of-29 passes for 321 yards and two touchdowns in just his second career start as Pitt upset No. 25 Florida State on the road, 34-31.
  • Rushed for a career-high 64 yards on 16 attempts, including a career-long 30-yard run in the fourth quarter.
  • Was one of just three FBS players – and the only ACC player – with 320+ passing yards and 60+ rushing yards for the week.
  • Led the ACC last week in passing yards (320), yards per attempt (11.07), and total offense (385), which also ranked sixth nationally.
  • Among FBS true freshmen last week, he was first in passing yards, yards per passing attempt, passing touchdowns and QBR.
  • Eclipsed 320 passing yards in each of his first two starts, while posting a 73% completion percentage and six total touchdown passes.
  • Second consecutive ACC weekly honor after winning ACC Rookie of the Week last week.
 
RUNNING BACK – Demond Claiborne, Sr., RB, Wake Forest (Aylett, Virginia)
  • Led Wake Forest’s offensive attack in the road win at Oregon State last week with 144 rushing yards and one touchdown on 16 carries, averaging 9.0 yards per attempt.
  • Registered a rushing touchdown for the fifth straight game, the longest scoring streak of his career.
  • Also caught two passes for 26 yards in the non-conference road win.
  • Accounted for five explosive plays of over 10 yards in the win over the Beavers, including a 66-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
  • Recorded his eighth rushing touchdown of the season with the 66-yard scamper.
  • His second ACC Running Back of the Week honor this season.
 
RECEIVER – Desmond Reid, Sr., RB, Pitt (Miami Gardens, Florida)
  • Led all players with 200 yards from scrimmage (155 receiving, 45 rushing) and caught two touchdown passes in his return from injury as Pitt beat No. 25 Florida State on the road.
  • Matched his career highs with 155 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns, scoring on receptions of 16 and 24 yards.
  • His 200 scrimmage yards led the ACC and ranked third nationally for Week 7.
  • Led the ACC in receiving yards and receptions, was second in receiving touchdowns and third in scrimmage yards per touch on the week.
  • Was the only FBS player in Week 7 with at least 45 rushing yards and 155 receiving yards.
  • Led FBS running backs in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in Week 7.
 
OFFENSIVE LINEMAN – Blake Miller, Sr., OT, Clemson (Strongsville, Ohio)
  • A key part of the offensive line unit that helped Clemson accrue a season-high 504 yards of total offense.
  • Helped the Tigers reach 200 passing yards and 200 rushing yards in the same game for the first time this season.
  • Led the way for the Tigers to rush for a season-high 226 yards and four rushing touchdowns, from four different Clemson players.
  • Graded out at 90 percent in a 31-point road win at Boston College.
  • Did not surrender a quarterback pressure for the game.
  • Started his 47th consecutive game at right tackle, having started every game played by Clemson since his arrival on campus as a true freshman in 2022.
 
DEFENSIVE LINEMAN – Peter Woods, Jr., DT, Clemson (Alabaster, Alabama)
  • Made an impact on both sides of the ball in Clemson’s 41-10 win at Boston College, rushing two times for four yards and a touchdown and a first down on offense and recording three tackles with a half-sack on defense.
  • Became the first FBS player this season to rush for a touchdown and record at least 0.5 sacks in a single game.
  • Was the first Clemson player to contribute to a sack and rush for a touchdown in a single game since Christian Wilkins against South Carolina in 2018.
  • His two-yard touchdown run was the first of his career.
  • He is 3-for-3 on converting fourth downs via rush this season and 4-for-4 on reaching the line to gain on his four carries.
  • Registered his first half-sack of the season in the third quarter.
  • Key part of a Clemson defense that held Boston College to only 136 passing yards, well below the Eagles’ average of 313.4 passing yards per game, which was ranked 10th nationally entering the contest.
 
LINEBACKER – Kyle Louis, R-Jr., LB, Pitt (East Orange, New Jersey)
  • Tallied 11 tackles and 1.5 tackles-for-loss in the road win over No. 25 Florida State.
  • His 11 tackles ranked third in the ACC and led all ACC linebackers for the week.
  • Was the only ACC linebacker with at least 11 tackles and 1.5 tackles-for-loss over Week 7.
  • His second ACC Linebacker of the Week honor this season.
 
DEFENSIVE BACK – KP Price, Jr., DB, Boston College (Baltimore, Maryland)
  • Finished the game with a career-high 14 tackles versus Clemson.
  • Added an interception and a return for 31 yards.
  • Also had 1.0 tackle-for-loss in the home contest.
 
SPECIALIST – Nolan Hauser, So., PK, Clemson (Cornelius, North Carolina)
  • Went 2-for-2 on field goals and 5-for-5 on PATs in Clemson’s 41-10 win at Boston College.
  • Converted on a season-long 46-yard field goal on the opening drive of the game.
  • Followed with another season-long 50-yard field goal to end the first half.
  • The 50-yard field goal was the third made field goal of his career of 50 or more yards.
 
ROOKIE – Chris Barnes, R-Fr., WR, Wake Forest (Houston, Texas)
  • Led the Wake Forest offense with three receptions for 102 yards and three touchdowns.
  • Marked the first time a Wake Forest wide receiver had three receiving touchdowns in a game since AT Perry versus Syracuse in 2022.
  • Totaled 170 all-purpose yards in the Demon Deacons’ road win over Oregon State.
  • Accounted for four explosive plays of 30 yards or more versus the Beavers.
