This Week in ACC Wrestling

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – The 2025-26 Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestling season kicks off this weekend with six of the seven teams taking the mat on Saturday and Sunday, November 1-2.
 
The ACC is set for another powerhouse season on the mats, with five programs ranked in the NWCA Preseason Division I Wrestling Coaches Poll. NC State leads the charge at No. 7, followed closely by Virginia Tech in the Top 10 at No. 10. Stanford checks in at No. 14, with Pitt at No. 21 and North Carolina at No. 23.
 
Saturday will feature three ACC teams competing in duals, as Duke hosts Sacred Heart (11 a.m. ET), No. 21 Pitt travels to Navy (2 p.m. ET) and No. 14 Stanford takes on Utah Valley (9 p.m. ET).
 
On Sunday, four teams will participate in open events. Pitt and Virginia will compete at the Navy Classic, while No. 10 Virginia Tech and No. 23 North Carolina will take part in the Southeast Open, hosted by Virginia Tech in Salem, Virginia.
 
In addition to the six teams in action, a trio of ACC wrestlers will compete individually at the 2025-26 season at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) All-Star Classic, held on November 1 at Jersey Mike’s Arena on the campus of Rutgers University.
 
No. 4 Eddie Ventresca of Virginia Tech will take on No. 5 Sheldon Seymour of Lehigh at 125 pounds, while two Stanford grapplers will compete at the one-day event as No. 4 Daniel Cardenas will face off with No. 5 Ty Watters of West Virginia at 157 pounds and No. 4 Hunter Garvin will battle No. 7 Max Brignola of Lehigh at 165 pounds.

  • The ACC has five teams ranked in the NWCA Preseason Division I Wrestling Coaches Poll – NC State (No. 7), Virginia Tech (No. 10), Stanford (No. 14), Pitt (No. 21) and North Carolina (No. 23).
  • 42 ACC wrestlers appear in the InterMat Preseason Individual Rankings (Oct. 28), landing in the top 33 of their respective weight classes. Five different weight classes feature five or more ranked ACC athletes, including 125 (5), 133 (5), 141 (5), 174 (6), and 285 (6).
  • Headlining the ACC’s returning talent is NC State’s Vince Robinson, the 2025 NCAA National Champion at 125 pounds. He’s joined by a stacked group of returning All-Americans, including Eddie Ventresca (Virginia Tech, 125), Tyler Knox (Stanford, 133), Hunter Garvin (Stanford, 165), Matthew Singleton (NC State, 174), Mac Stout (Pitt, 197) and Isaac Trumble (NC State, 285).
  • The 2026 ACC Wrestling Championship heads to Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Virginia, on Sunday, March 8, 2026, marking Virginia Tech’s first time hosting since 2019.
  • The 2026 NCAA Division I Men’s Wrestling Championships will be held at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, from March 19–21, 2026.
