Cal, SMU, Syracuse, Virginia Earn Spots in 2025 ACC Men’s Soccer Semifinals

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – California, SMU, Syracuse and Virginia advanced on Sunday, November 9, in the quarterfinals of the 2025 ACC Men’s Soccer Championship. The day ended with a pair of upsets, as No. 6 seed Syracuse won at No. 3 seed NC State, and No. 7 seed SMU followed by ousting No. 2 seed Stanford.
 
The tournament now shifts to First Horizon Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. The semifinals will be played Thursday, November 13, starting with No. 12 seed California playing No. 1 seed Virginia at 5:30 p.m. ET, and No. 7 seed SMU taking on No. 6 seed Syracuse at 8 p.m. ET. ACC Network will have the broadcast of both matches. The championship match will air on ESPNU on Sunday, November 16, at 1 p.m. ET.
 
California started the quarterfinals with a 1-0 win over No. 13 seed Pitt in Berkeley, California, becoming the lowest seed to reach the ACC semifinals in the 39-year history of the event. The Golden Bears advanced to the semis as the No. 11 seed last season, which was the previous low.
 
Virginia rallied from a 1-0 deficit to knock off No. 9 seed North Carolina, 2-1, in Charlottesville, Virginia. Syracuse followed by scoring three second-half goals in its road upset of NC State in Raleigh, North Carolina. SMU capped the day by scoring via a Stephan Soghomonian penalty kick in the 60th minute and holding on for a 1-0 triumph over Stanford in Stanford, California. The Mustangs will make their first-ever appearance in the ACC semifinals.
 
Single-game tickets for the semifinal matches are $10 in advance and $15 on gameday, while championship game tickets are $15 in advance and $20 on gameday. Tickets are only available online and no walk-up sales will be available.
