Nation-Best 57 Former ACC Standouts Set for 2025 NWSL Playoffs

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – With the 2025 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Playoffs presented by Google Pixel set to get underway on Friday, November 7, a total of 57 former standouts from current Atlantic Coast Conference schools will compete for a spot in the 2025 NWSL Championship on Saturday, November 22, in San Jose, California.

The top two seeds, No. 1 Kansas City Current and No. 2 Washington Spirit, feature the most former ACC players with nine each, while no playoff team has fewer than five former ACC standouts. The 57 former players are the most of any conference.

Last season, four players with ACC ties helped the Orlando Pride capture the 2024 NWSL Championship, defeating the Washington Spirit, 1-0. Former Florida State standout Emily Sands played the full 90 minutes in the title match and was named NWSL Defender of the Year.

The 2025 NWSL Playoffs begin Friday when the defending champion Pride face Seattle Reign FC at 8 p.m. ET on Amazon Prime. Quarterfinal action continues Saturday, November 8, when the Spirit take on Racing Louisville at noon ET on CBS. On Sunday, November 9, ABC will feature a doubleheader as Kansas City takes on Gotham FC at 12:30 p.m. ET,  followed by the Portland Thorns against the San Diego Wave at 3 p.m. ET. The NWSL Championship final is set for November 22 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.
