Stanford Claims 2025 ACC Gymnastics Championship Title

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - In its first time as a member of the conference, Stanford claimed the Atlantic Coast Conference Gymnastics Championship on Saturday night with a total score of 197.775 at the First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina. California placed second with a score of 197.650, North Carolina finished third with a score of 197.225, NC State claimed fourth with a score of 196.500, Clemson came in fifth with a score of 196.175 and Pitt finished sixth with a score of 195.800.
 
Cal and North Carolina swept the 2025 ACC Gymnastics yearly awards. The Golden Bears’ Mya Lauzon was named the Gymnast of the Year, while the Tar Heels’ Lali Dekanoidze earned Specialist of the Year laurels. North Carolina’s JoJo Valahovic was tabbed the ACC Newcomer of the Year and her head coach, Danna Durante, shared Coach of the Year honors with California’s Co-Head Coaches Justin Howell and Elisabeth-Crandall Howell.
 
Lauzon was named the ACC Gymnast of the Week six times this season while finishing the regular season with the highest NQS (9.955), average score (9.940) and season-high score (10.000) on floor, the highest NQS (39.650), average (39.544) and season-high (39.750) on the all-around, and is tied for the highest NQS (9.925), average (9.873) and season-high (9.975) on beam. Lauzon was the only ACC gymnast to record a perfect score on any event this season. The senior out of Kent, Washington, recorded 25 event wins and 43 podium finishes this year, highlighted by six all-around wins. Lauzon was named to the All-ACC team in all four events and the all-around at the end of the regular season.
 
Dekanoidze was named the 2025 ACC Specialist of the Year after a first-place finish in the conference in bars average (9.907) and bars season-high (9.975), and a second-place finish in bars NQS (9.930). Nationally, Dekanoidze sits eighth in NQS, sixth in average, and fourth in season-high. She is the only ACC gymnast to score a 9.975 on bars this season. The senior out of Matthews, North Carolina, has won seven event titles this season – all on bars. She was named to the 2025 All-ACC Gymnastics team on bars, marking her second consecutive season earning All-ACC Team honors.
 
In her first season with the Tar Heels, Valahovic was named the 2025 ACC Newcomer of the Year. The Sagamore Hills, Ohio, native was one of just two freshmen named to the 2025 All-ACC Gymnastics Team and the only freshman named to the vault team. Valahovic won ACC Newcomer of the Week honors during four consecutive weeks and for the entire month of February. The freshman posted a career-high on vault with a 9.9, ranks fifth in the ACC with an NQS of 9.86, and is one of only two ACC freshmen to score a 9.9+ on vault this season. On beam, Valahovic set a career-high on beam with a score of 9.95 to become the only ACC freshman to score a 9.95+ on beam this season. She sits third all-time in program history with her high score on beam and is tied for fourth in program history with her high score on vault.

The All-ACC Gymnastics Team was announced on Monday, March 17, by the conference office and can be found HERE. The All-ACC Gymnastics team consists of the top six ranked ACC performers on vault, bars, beam, and floor, along with the top two all-around scorers. All rankings are based on the final NQS at the conclusion of the regular season.
