ACC Women’s Basketball Announces 2024-25 Award Winners

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Notre Dame sophomore guard Hannah Hidalgo has been chosen as the 2024-25 Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, headlining the 2024-25 All-ACC Women’s Basketball Team and individual award winners.

The 2024-25 All-ACC Team was determined by the league’s head coaches and Blue Ribbon Panel.

In addition, Duke’s Toby Fournier was tabbed the ACC Rookie of the Year, while Georgia Tech’s Dani Carnegie earned ACC Sixth Player of the Year honors. NC State’s Zoe Brooks was named the ACC Most Improved Player, while Wolfpack head coach Wes Moore earned ACC Coach of the Year honors for the third time in his career.

Hidalgo becomes just the third player in ACC history to win Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season, joining Duke’s Lindsay Harding in 2007 and Virginia’s Monica Wright in 2010. The guard also becomes the first player since Duke’s Elizabeth Williams (2012-2015) to win the Defensive Player of the Year in consecutive seasons. The Merchantville, New Jersey, native ranks third in the nation in scoring at 24.2 points per game and fourth in steals at 3.7 per contest. Hidalgo closed the regular season with 100 steals, 29 steals more than any other player in the ACC. Named ACC Player of the Week four times this season, Hidalgo has posted four 30-point games and 21 20-point efforts on the year. Hidalgo is the first-ever Notre Dame player to win ACC Player of the Year and just the fourth sophomore.

Fournier becomes the first Duke player since Elizabeth Williams in 2012 to win ACC Rookie of the Year honors. The Toronto, Ontario, native closed the regular season with nine 20-point performances, the most among all ACC freshmen. Named ACC Rookie of the Week six times, Fournier leads the Blue Devils with 14.1 points per game and is shooting 55.0 percent from the field. Over her last three games, Fournier has averaged 23.0 points per game.

Carnegie is the second straight freshman to win ACC Sixth Player of the Year after Duke’s Oluchi Okananwa won the award a season ago. The Mount Vernon, New York, native also became the first player from Georgia Tech to claim Sixth Player of the Year honors since Zaire O'Neil in 2018. Coming off the bench in 26 games this season, Carnegie averaged 13.1 points per game and shot just under 40 percent (39.9) from the field. Connecting on 58 3-pointers this season, the guard’s 2.23 triples per game ranks 10th in the ACC. Carnegie was named ACC Rookie of the Week five times this season, including a stretch of four straight weeks from December 16-January 6.

Brooks enters the postseason averaging 14.5 points per game for the Wolfpack, higher than her scoring average last season of 9.0. Moore becomes the sixth different coach to win ACC Coach of the Year three times joining Debbie Ryan (Virginia), Gail Goestenkors (Duke), Sylvia Hatchel (North Carolina), Sue Semrau (Florida State) and Joanne P. McCallie (Duke). Moore led NC State to a 24-5 overall record and a 16-2 conference mark, as the Wolfpack earned a share of the ACC Women’s Basketball Regular Season Championship and sealed the No. 1 seed in the 2025 Ally ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament. It marked the seventh time in program history NC State will serve at the No. 1 seed. Moore is currently the ACC’s active leader in victories with 855 career wins.
