California, Stanford and Louisville Garner ACC Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Six Atlantic Coast Conference student-athletes from a trio of institutions were tabbed as ACC Outdoor Track & Field Performers of the Week for the third week of the 2025 Outdoor Track & Field season. Stanford led the way with three selections, while California had two honorees and Louisville had one selection.
 
Stanford sophomore Lex Young was named the ACC Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week after finishing second in the 10,000 meters at the Stanford Invitational in a time of 27:48.93, breaking his personal record by 1:36. Young now ranks fifth in Stanford’s outdoor history. This season, he ranks first in the ACC and second in the country. The time also places him at No. 8 on the United States’ 2025 list.
 
Zofia Dudek, a graduate student at Stanford, was tabbed as the ACC Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week after finishing third in the 5,000 meters at the Stanford Invitational. Dudek clocked a time of 15:23.46, breaking her personal-best by nine seconds, to place No. 5 at Stanford all-time. Dudek’s time also placed her at No. 6 on Poland’s all-time list and is the Polish leading time, including indoors and outdoors, this year. She ranks first in the ACC and third in the NCAA this outdoor season in the event.  
 
California’s Mykloas Alekna was tabbed as the ACC Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week after posting a world-leading discus throw of 70.09 meters (229-11). The throw shattered the ACC record by more than 10 feet. The Olympic silver medalist also recorded a throw of 70.01 meters throughout his series. Alekna was also named the USTFCCCA Men’s National Athlete of the Week on Monday, April 7.
 
Stanford’s Alyssa Jones won the long jump at the Stanford Invitational with a leap of 6.81 meters (22-4.25), the farthest outdoor jump in the world this year, to earn ACC Women’s Outfield Field Athlete of the Week honors. Including the indoor season, Jones ranks No. 4 in the U.S. and No. 8 in the world this year. Jones broke a 31-year-old ACC record, dating back to 1994, which also broke the Stanford Invitational and Cobb Track and Angell Field records. Jones, the Field MVP from the 2025 ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships, ranks No. 1 in the ACC and No. 1 in NCAA Division I this outdoor season.
 
Louisville’s KJ Byrd earned ACC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Freshman of the Week honors after making his first collegiate appearance in the decathlon at the Jim Click Shootout & Multis. Byrd finished as the runner-up with a total of 7,349 points, which ranks fourth in the ACC and 10th in the NCAA this season. The mark is also the best among freshman throughout the country. The mark also moved him up to third in Louisville’s program history while setting a new freshman record for the Cardinals by nearly 300 points.
 
California’s Valentina Savva was named the ACC Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Freshman of the Week after breaking the Cal freshman hammer record by more than 10 feet. Savva won the Brutus Hamilton Invitational with a mark of 68.73 meters (225-6), which also ranks third in Golden Bears’ history. Her mark leads the ACC by nearly six feet and ranks second nationally in the hammer throw.
