2025 ACC Rowing Championship Set for May 16-17 in Clemson

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – The 25th edition of the Atlantic Coast Conference Rowing Championship is set to get underway on Friday, May 16, at Lake Hartwell in Clemson, South Carolina. The championship begins with preliminary heats on Friday and concludes with finals on Saturday, May 17. Both days of racing will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.

This year marks the 20th time Lake Hartwell has hosted the ACC Championship and the first since 2022. The event was held at Lake Wheeler in Raleigh, North Carolina, the past two seasons.

Action gets underway Friday at 8:05 a.m. ET with the Third Varsity Eight, followed by the Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, Varsity Four and Second Varsity Four. There will be two heats of each event.

On Saturday, Petite Finals will be held prior to the Grand Finals for each event with action starting at 8:05 a.m. ET The order of events includes the Third Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Four, Varsity Four, Second Varsity Eight and Varsity Eight. Lindsay Shoop and Amanda Polk will provide commentary on ACCNX, with longtime Virginia head coach Kevin Sauer serving as the on-boat reporter.

The 2025 ACC Rowing Championship is a non-ticketed event. Admission is free for fans who plan to attend.

The ACC enters the postseason with seven teams ranked in the latest Pocock Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Coaches Poll, tied for the most among all conferences. Stanford leads the poll at No. 1, followed by California (No. 9), Syracuse (No. 11), Virginia (No. 13), Duke (No. 18), Clemson (No. 22) and North Carolina (No. 24).

Last season, Syracuse claimed its first-ever ACC Rowing crown in dramatic fashion. Syracuse and Virginia tied atop the final leaderboard with 90 points, with the tiebreaker going to the winner of the Varsity Eight Grand Final. The Orange V8 crossed the line first with an ACC Championship-record time of 6:09.814, edging the Cavaliers by over five seconds. With the title-clinching victory, the Syracuse V8 was named ACC Crew of the Year.
