CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – With the WNBA tipping off its 29th season on Friday, May 16, 31 former players from current Atlantic Coast Conference schools have made opening day rosters.
The Las Vegas Aces feature the most ACC players with five on their roster, including former ACC Player of the Year honorees Elizabeth Kitley (Virginia Tech), Dana Evans (Louisville) and Jewell Loyd (Notre Dame). The Connecticut Sun, Minnesota Lynx and Indiana Fever each have four players from ACC programs.
Last April, six ACC players were selected in the 2025 WNBA Draft, including three first-round picks in Sonia Citron (Notre Dame), Saniya Rivers (NC State) and Aziaha James (NC State). It marked the first time since 2019 that the ACC had multiple first-round selections.
The WNBA action begins on Friday with three matchups beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET. At 10 p.m. ET, the Golden State Valkyries play its first game in franchise history against the Los Angeles Sparks.
