Four ACC Teams Selected to 2025 NCAA Rowing Championship

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Headlined by No. 1-ranked Stanford, four Atlantic Coast Conference teams have been selected for the 2025 NCAA Rowing Championships scheduled for May 30-June 1 at Lake Mercer in West Windsor, New Jersey.

The Cardinal will be joined by California, Syracuse, and Virginia, marking the most ACC teams ever selected for the championship and tying for the second-most selections among all conferences in the 22-team field.

Following the program’s first-ever ACC Championship, Stanford earned the No. 1 seed in all three events. The Cardinal are making their 16th NCAA Championships appearance, having previously won two national titles in the span, most recently in 2023.

California, which placed fourth in its first-ever trip to the ACC Rowing Championship last week, earned the No. 14 seed in the Varsity Eight, the No. 16 seed in the Second Varsity Eight and the No. 11 seed in the Varsity Four. The Golden Bears are set to compete in their 25th consecutive NCAA Championship.

Syracuse, coming off a third-place finish at the ACC Championship, will make its fifth straight NCAA Championships appearance. The Orange earned the No. 17 seed in the Varsity Eight, the No. 12 seed in the Second Varsity Eight and the No. 3 seed in the Varsity Four.

Virginia returns to the NCAA Championships for the 18th straight season after finishing as the runner-up in last week’s ACC Championship. The Cavaliers will be the No. 12 seed in the Varsity Eight, the No. 10 seed in the Second Varsity Eight and the No. 17 seed in the Varsity Four.

The team championship at the NCAA Championships is composed of 22 teams. Nine conferences were awarded automatic qualification, and the remaining 13 slots were filled with at-large selections to complete the championship field. Teams qualifying for the championship are required to field two boats of eight rowers and one boat of four rowers. For the Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight and Varsity Four, all 22 boats will be seeded into four heats.
