This Weekend in ACC Baseball

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – With just two weekends remaining in the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference baseball season, the competition continues to heat up on the diamond. With five teams ranked in the D1Baseball Top 25, fans will continue to see high-level competition throughout the league as teams race towards high-drama finishes and dreams of the postseason.
 
Entering the penultimate weekend of the 2025 regular season, Florida State sits atop the ACC standings at 14-7. The Seminoles, ranked second in the nation by D1Baseball, will travel to Berkeley, California, to take on Cal. Florida State’s first-ever trip to Berkeley will begin at 9 p.m. ET on Friday, May 9.
 
A top-20 series between No. 16 NC State and No. 4 North Carolina will open the league’s slate of games on Thursday, May 8. The Wolfpack and Tar Heels enter the weekend in second and third-place, respectively, in the ACC standings as the rivalry series will prove to be crucial for seeding at the 2025 ACC Baseball Championship. Thursday and Friday’s games will be streamed on ACC Network Extra, while the series finale on Sunday, May 11, will be televised on ACC Network.
 
Boston College, Notre Dame, Stanford and Virginia Tech are all playing non-conference series this weekend before all 16 ACC teams close the regular season with ACC action next weekend.
 
Duke will head to Clemson, South Carolina, to open a three-game series against the ninth-ranked Tigers on Friday at 6 p.m. ET. The red-hot Blue Devils, who have won nine of their last 10 games, will look to upend the Tigers, who are 25-5 at home this season.
 
Georgia Tech will play host to No. 20 Louisville for a three-game set, beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. ET. Also on Friday, Pitt will open a series at Wake Forest, while Miami will travel to Charlottesville, Virginia, for three games against Virginia.

  • Georgia Tech’s Danny Hall announced his plans to retire following the 2025 season ahead of the Jackets’ series vs. Clemson. Hall has logged 1,446 career victories, which ranks ninth in Division I history.
  • Entering the weekend, Florida State (1), NC State (2), North Carolina (3) and Georgia Tech (4) would earn double-byes in the 2025 ACC Baseball Championship as the top-four seeds, if the season ended today. The ACC Championship moves to a 16-team, single-elimination format for the 2025 season.
  • As of May 8, 13 of the ACC’s 16 teams rank inside the top 52 of RPI, including three teams in the top 10. Florida State leads the ACC at No. 7 in the RPI rankings, followed by No. 9 Clemson and No. 10 North Carolina.
  • Entering the weekend, 11 ACC teams rank inside the top 50 of the Diamond Sports Rankings, including seven teams in the top 25. North Carolina leads the ACC at No. 7 in the DSR rankings, followed by No. 8 Florida State, No. 10 Clemson, No. 14 Duke, No. 18 Miami, No. 19 Georgia Tech and No. 25 NC State.
  • Five ACC teams are ranked in the D1Baseball Top 25, including three teams in the top five. Florida State leads the way at No. 2, followed by No. 4 North Carolina, No. 9 Clemson, No. 16 NC State and No. 20 Louisville.
  • 10 of the ACC programs were included in this week’s D1Baseball Field of 64 projections, including Clemson, Florida State and North Carolina, who were projected regional hosts. Duke, Georgia Tech, Louisville, NC State, Miami and Wake Forest were slotted as No. 2 seeds. Notre Dame was listed as one of the “First Four Out”, while Virginia and Virginia Tech were listed in the “Four to Watch”.
  • The ACC had 12 players named to the 45-man Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List, which ranks second among all conferences. Florida State and Wake Forest led the league with three honorees each.
  • Nine ACC shortstops were named to the Brooks Wallace Award Midseason Watch List, which ranks second among all conferences.
  • D1Baseball named 10 ACC standouts to its midseason All-America teams, including eight on the first team. Florida State’s Alex Lodise was also named Midseason National Player of the Year by D1Baseball, while Virginia Tech’s Sam Tackett was tabbed as the Midseason National Breakout Star.
  • Perfect Game named 12 ACC student-athletes to their Midseason All-America teams, including seven on the first team. PG also pegged six ACC standouts as Midseason Freshman All-Americans.
