BRIGHTON, Mass. (theACC.com) - No. 3-seed Virginia Tech defeated No. 6-seed North Carolina, 4-0, on Thursday, May 8, to secure the final spot in the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Championship Semifinals at the Harrington Athletics Village in Brighton, Massachusetts.
Virginia Tech put four runs on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI single by Nora Abromavage and a two-run double from Cori McMillan to secure a win in its first game of the tournament.
Six different Hokies got a hit in the shutout win over North Carolina, headlined by Zoe Yaeger, who went 2-for-3 at the plate, and McMillan, the 2025 ACC Player of the Year, who went 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
Virginia Tech’s Emma Lemley threw a complete game shutout, striking out six and allowing just one hit.
The Hokies advanced to the semifinals to take on Clemson on Friday, May 9, at 12:30 p.m. ET on ACC Network.
