Louisville’s Savage Earns 2025 NCAA Women’s Long Jump National Championship

EUGENE, Ore. (theACC.com) – Louisville’s Synclair Savage captured the women’s long jump national title at the 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s & Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a record-setting final attempt. Her victory marks the second individual title for the Atlantic Coast Conference at this year’s championships, following Miami’s Devoux Deysel, who won the men’s javelin on Wednesday, June 11.
 
On her final jump, Savage soared to a Louisville-record distance of 6.72 meters (22-0.75), vaulting from fourth place to the top of the leaderboard. Stanford’s Alyssa Jones finished second with a mark of 6.70 meters (21-11.75).
 
Savage becomes the first Cardinal to ever win the NCAA women’s long jump individual championship and the first ACC student to win the event since Florida State’s Kim Williams in 2009.
 
NC State’s Grace Hartman finished as the runner-up in the women’s 10,000-meter run, clocking a time of 31:32.15. Hartman’s time was nearly 14 seconds under the previous NCAA Championship record but was edged out by New Mexico’s Pamela Kosgei.
 
After one day of the women’s competition, Louisville sits in fourth place with 1t points. Stanford and NC State are tied for eighth place with eight points, while Cal’s four points are tied for 21st.
 
On the men’s side, Miami leads all ACC schools with 10 points, sitting in a tie for sixth place on the leaderboard. North Carolina logged nine points to sit tied for 10th, while Virginia Tech’s five points place them in a tie for 23rd.
 
The NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships continue Friday, June 13, in Eugene, Oregon. The men’s team champion will be crowned Friday, with the women’s title decided on Saturday, June 14.
