CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Miami’s Devoux Deysel and Louisville’s Synclair Savage, a pair of national champions, headline the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Outdoor Track and Field end-of-year honors, the league announced Monday.
The honorees were selected via a vote of the league’s head coaches:

Women’s Outdoor Track Performer of the Year: Grace Hartman, NC State
Men’s Outdoor Field Performer of the Year: Devoux Deysel, Miami
Women’s Outdoor Field Performer of the Year: Synclair Savage, Louisville
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Freshman of the Year: Joseph Taylor, Duke
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Freshman of the Year: Braelyn Baker, Duke
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year: Shawn Wilbourn, Duke
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year: Vin Lannana, Virginia
After being named the ACC Men’s Indoor Track Performer of the Year, North Carolina’s Strand followed it up with a stellar outdoor season as well. Strand finished as the national runner-up in the men’s 1500-meter run, crossing the finish line in 3:47.33. The standout from Vestavia, Alabama, also earned honorable mention All-America honors in the men’s 5,000-meter run. He becomes the second straight Tar Heel to be named the ACC Men’s Outdoor Track Performer of the Year, joining teammate Parker Wolfe in 2023. Strand has also been recognized as a semifinalist for The Bowerman.
Hartman put together an incredible season for the Wolfpack and became NC State’s first ACC Women’s Outdoor Track Performer of the Year since Katelyn Tuohy in 2022. The NC State junior was the ACC champion in the women’s 5,000-meter run, setting the ACC Championship record with a time of 15:12.03. At the NCAA Championships, Hartman earned a pair of First-Team All-America honors, finishing as the silver medalist in the 10,000-meter run and fifth in the 5,000-meter run. The Oakwood, Ohio, native also set the ACC record in the 10,000-meter run on March 27 during the Raleigh Relays with a time of 31:20.60.
Deysel becomes the first student-athlete from Miami to be named the ACC Outdoor Field Performer of the Year after winning the 2025 NCAA men’s javelin national championship. The graduate student from Garsfontein, South Africa, recorded a mark of 81.75m (268-2) to top the competition by nearly three meters. Deysel also won the ACC championship in the javelin throw for the second straight year with a mark of 82.35m (270-2).
Savage won the 2025 NCAA championship in the women’s long jump to highlight her outdoor season. With her final jump in Eugene, Oregon, Savage posted a personal-best jump of 6.72m (22-0.75) to take first place and earn the gold medal. She becomes the second consecutive Louisville standout to be named the ACC Women’s Outdoor Field Performer of the Year, joining teammate Jayden Ulrich. In addition to her national championship, Savage finished as the silver medalist at the ACC Championships.
Taylor became the first student-athlete from Duke to be named the ACC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Freshman of the Year. The Toledo, Ohio, native earned the bronze medal in the men’s 200-meter dash at the ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a time of 20.69 seconds. Taylor followed his bronze medal performance by taking home the silver medal in the 400-meter run, clocking a time of 44.98 seconds. At the NCAA Championships, Taylor finished fifth in the 400-meter run to earn First Team All-America honors.
Duke’s Baker became the second Blue Devil to be named the ACC Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Freshman of the Year and the first since Katelyn Gochenour in 2017. Baker was a three-time medalist at the ACC Championships, earning the silver medal in the 400-meter run and the bronze in both the 200-meter dash and 4x100-meter relay. Additionally, the Carnation, Washington, native earned Second-Team All-America honors in the 400-meter hurdles after finishing ninth at the NCAA Championships.
For the third consecutive season, Duke’s Wilbourn has earned an ACC Coach of the Year honor during the outdoor season. Wilbourn previously won the 2021, 2023 and 2024 ACC Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year honors before being tabbed as the 2025 ACC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year. Wilbourn led the Blue Devils to their first ACC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field championship as Duke finished with 86 points to secure the title.
Lannana was recognized as an ACC Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year as his peers voted him as the 2025 ACC Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year. In 2024, Lannana was tabbed as the Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year. Led by Lannana, Virginia won its first ACC Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship since 1987, totaling 93 points to clinch the victory. The Cavaliers finished four points ahead of Louisville for the smallest margin of victory in an ACC Championship since 2021.
