The schedule is stacked with intrigue, highlighted by two conference matchups, two non-conference contests against fellow Power 4 opponents and a top-20 showdown between undefeated teams.

Georgia Tech and Clemson renew their historic rivalry this week. The Yellow Jackets hold a 50-36-2 all-time series lead, but the Tigers have won nine straight—the longest streak since the Yellow Jackets’ 10-game run from 1953-68.
Both teams face challenging schedules, with Clemson’s opponents owning a .727 winning percentage, which ranks third in the ACC, and Georgia Tech’s at .682, which is fourth.
Clemson rallied from a 16-point halftime deficit to top Troy last week, marking just the seventh such comeback in program history. The Tigers have forced five turnovers this season, including three interceptions, which ties them for seventh nationally.
Georgia Tech freshman QB Aaron Philo earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors after throwing for 373 yards and a touchdown in his first career start last week. The Jackets lead the ACC in total offense (571.5 ypg), yards per play (9.14), rushing (7.24 ypc) and red-zone scoring (100%), while ranking in the top 10 nationally in each category. Defensively, Tech has seven sacks through two games, tied for the 10th-most in the country.

Virginia returns home Saturday to face in-state foe William & Mary. The Cavaliers have scored 35 points or more in back-to-back games for the first time since 2021 and are excelling on both sides of the ball.
Defensively, UVA leads the nation in third-down stops, holding opponents to just 2-of-21 (9.5%) conversions, while offensively the Hoos have converted 22-of-37 (59.5%)—both tops in the ACC. Virginia is also one of only two league teams yet to allow a sack, leads the conference in time of possession (33 minutes per game), and has committed just one turnover through two weeks of the season.
William & Mary enters Saturday’s contest off a 28-27 win over Maine, scoring the game-winning touchdown with 3:11 left. The Tribe is coming off a 7-5 campaign in 2024, its fourth straight winning season—the program’s longest such streak since 1992-99.

The Panthers enter averaging 462.0 yards per game, including 321.0 through the air, which ranks fourth in the ACC. Defensively, Pitt leads the ACC in fewest first downs allowed (10.5 per game), is second in sacks (8.0) and ranks fourth in total defense (174.0 ypg). The Tar Heels are coming off a 20-3 win at Charlotte, which marked Bill Belichick’s first collegiate head coaching victory. UNC allowed its fewest points since 2012 and held an opponent without a touchdown for the first time since 2020. Offensively, the Tar Heels are a perfect 4-for-4 in the red zone, while the defense leads the ACC and ranks fourth nationally in red-zone efficiency, holding opponents to just three scores in eight trips (.375).
Richmond enters Saturday’s contest at 1-1 following a 14-10 win over Wofford and will be playing its third straight road game to open the season. The Spiders have reached the FCS Playoffs each of the last three years, including a 10-3 campaign in 2024 that featured an undefeated conference record and a share of the league title.

SMU and Missouri State will meet for the first time on Saturday afternoon, the first of two matchups with a return game set for Dallas in 2026.
The Mustangs are coming off a 48-45 double-overtime loss to Baylor, but continue to showcase a playmaking defense, which is tied for the national lead with two defensive touchdowns and ranks third with three fumble recoveries.
