Wake Forest Sweeps ACC Field Hockey Weekly Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Wake Forest midfielder Mia Schoenbeck was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week for field hockey, while Demon Deacons’ goalkeeper Ellie Todd was selected as the ACC Defensive Player of the Week for matches played between September 22-28.
 
Mia Schoenbeck, Jr., Midfielder, Wake Forest (LaGrange, Ky.)
  • Scored the game-winning goal in overtime to knock off No. 2 North Carolina.
  • Gave Wake Forest its first win over North Carolina since 2017.
  • Helped push the Demon Deacons to 3-0 in ACC play, with all three wins coming against ranked opponents.
 
Ellie Todd, Sr., Goalkeeper, Wake Forest (Boston, Mass.)
  • Logged 11 saves in the Demon Deacons’ win over No. 2 North Carolina.
  • Posted the third double-digit save performance of her career.
  • Her 11 saves were the second-most in a game by an ACC goalkeeper this season.
  • Earned her second straight ACC Defensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Noting ACC Field Hockey
  • Wake Forest and Virginia remain undefeated in ACC play through two weeks.
  • Six teams are represented in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches’ Poll, including five teams ranked in the top 10.
  • The ACC’s six ranked teams are the most of any conference.
  • Entering Week 6 of the field hockey season, five of the top 10 teams in the RPI rankings hail from the ACC, led by No. 1 North Carolina and No. 2 Virginia.
  • As a league, the ACC boasts the top overall and non-conference RPI.
