CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Atlantic Coast Conference field hockey continues this weekend with 10 matches across Friday and Sunday, including six conference contests. Four matchups will feature two nationally ranked opponents, as all seven ACC teams ranked in this week’s NFHCA Coaches Poll are set to compete.
Friday’s slate features four conference contests, beginning at 3 p.m. ET when No. 12 North Carolina travels to No. 16 Louisville on ACCNX. Also at 3 p.m. ET, No. 9 Syracuse opens a two-game road trip at No. 3 Duke on ACCNX.
No. 5 Wake Forest heads to Boston College for a 5 p.m. ET conference matchup, while Stanford visits No. 11 Virginia at 5 p.m. ET. No. 20 California closes Friday’s action with a 6 p.m. ET non-conference contest at VCU.
Sunday’s schedule is highlighted by a pair of conference contests. Stanford travels to No. 16 Louisville for a noon matchup on ACC Network, while No. 20 California visits No. 11 Virginia at noon on ACCNX. No. 5 Wake Forest will take on No. 8 Harvard at noon on ESPN+, and Boston College hosts Northeastern at 2 p.m. ET. Duke will also host Saint Joseph’s at noon on ACCNX.

Noting ACC Field Hockey
- The ACC has seven teams ranked in the latest NFHCA Coaches Poll, led by No. 3 Duke and No. 5 Wake Forest. Syracuse checks in at No. 9, followed by No. 11 Virginia, No. 12 North Carolina, No. 16 Louisville and No. 20 California.
- Four of this weekend’s matchups feature two nationally ranked teams: No. 12 North Carolina at No. 16 Louisville, No. 9 Syracuse at No. 3 Duke, No. 20 California at No. 11 Virginia, and No. 5 Wake Forest at No. 8 Harvard.
- All nine ACC teams rank among the top 20 nationally in the latest NCAA RPI rankings.
- The ACC also holds the No. 1 conference RPI and leads all conferences in each ranking category: Opponent Success, Opponent Strength of Schedule, Road Success and Road RPI.
- The 2026 ACC Field Hockey Championship will return to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, for the first time since 2020. Set to begin November 3, the host Tar Heels will look to claim their 10th consecutive ACC title on their home field.
- For the second consecutive season, North Carolina was picked to win the ACC in a vote of the league’s nine head coaches. The Tar Heels garnered four first-place votes and were followed by Virginia, Duke and Wake Forest, all of which received at least one first-place vote.
- Duke sophomore goalkeeper Kaiya Chepow was named the NFHCA Division I National Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday, September 30. Chepow joins California freshman defender Flore Uges and Louisville goalkeeper Emily Young as NFHCA Division I National Defensive Player of the Week honorees this season.
- Wake Forest has been one of the nation’s most productive offensive teams, ranking eighth in scoring at 3.60 goals per game and ninth in scoring margin at 2.28 goals per game.
- The Demon Deacons have earned much of their production from Bianca Rees-Gibbs (1.25) and Ava Moore (1.00), who each rank in the top 10 nationally in goals per game.
- Wake Forest’s Mia Schoenbeck, the 2025 ACC Offensive Player of the Year; Mia Montag, the 2025 ACC Defensive Player of the Year; and Virginia’s Nilou Lempers, the 2025 ACC Goalkeeper of the Year, headlined the league’s 13-member Preseason All-ACC Field Hockey Team.
- North Carolina won its ninth consecutive ACC Field Hockey Championship and its 28th ACC title overall in 2025. The Tar Heels also made their NCAA-record 29th appearance in the national semifinals last season.
