ACC Announces Gymnasts of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - In the sixth set of weekly honors for the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Gymnastics season, NC State’s Syniya Thomas was named the ACC Gymnast of the Week, while California’s Sage Melkonian and North Carolina’s JoJo Valahovic shared ACC Specialist of the Week honors. Additionally, Stanford’s Levi Jung-Ruivivar was named the ACC Newcomer of the Week.

Syniya Thomas, NC State, So. (Raleigh, North Carolina)
  • Helped lead NC State to a win over No. 12 North Carolina with two first-place finishes.
    • Vault: 9.825
    • Beam: 9.875 (Tied for First Place)
    • Floor: 9.975 (First Place)
ACC Co-Specialist of the Week
Sage Melkonian, California, So. (Mission Viejo, California)
  • Scored a career-best 9.925 on bars against Pitt to earn her first collegiate individual event title.
    • Tied for first in the ACC with a 9.950 high on bars.
    • Tied for second in the ACC with a 9.875 average.
ACC Co-Specialist of the Week
JoJo Valahovic, North Carolina, So. (Sagamore Hills, Ohio)
  • Scored a career-best 9.925 on vault against NC State for a first-place finish.
    • Tied for first in the ACC with a 9.925 high on vault.
    • Second in the ACC with a 9.880 average.
ACC Newcomer of the Week
Levi Jung-Ruivivar, Stanford, R-Fr. (Los Angeles, California)
  • Recorded two scores of 9.950 for two first-place finishes and a second-place finish in the all around to help Stanford defeat Pitt.
