This is the 22nd edition of the ACC Fencing Championships. The ACC held a men’s fencing championship annually for 10 years from 1971 through 1980 but discontinued it after the 1980 season. With the addition of Notre Dame in 2014-15, the ACC reinstituted the championship as a four-team event in 2015.
Boston College, Duke, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Stanford will be battling for championships this weekend.
All five ACC men’s fencing programs are ranked in the Midseason USFCA Coaches Poll: Notre Dame (No. 1), Duke (No. 8), Boston College (No. 11), Stanford (No. 12) and North Carolina (No. 14). Four ACC women’s teams earned spots in the Preseason USFCA Coaches Poll, led by Notre Dame at No. 2 and followed by Duke (No. 5), Stanford (No. 11) and North Carolina (No. 15).
Notre Dame is the four-time reigning women’s team champion and has won nine of the last 11 championships, while the Fighting Irish men won their eighth ACC crown in the last 11 seasons in 2025. UNC owns the most men’s team titles all-time with nine, while Notre Dame leads in women’s team championships with nine.
Duke is serving as host for the ACC Fencing Championships for the fourth time (1974, 2017, 2022).
