ACC Announces Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina sophomore attacker Chloe Humphrey notched Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Stanford fifth-year defender Kate Bellissimo earned ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors for games played from March 2-8. 
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF WEEK – Chloe Humphrey, So., A, North Carolina (Darien, Connecticut) 
  • Recorded 12 goals and four assists in wins over No. 11 Clemson and No. 21 Pitt. 
  • Added two groundballs and nine caused turnovers in the Tar Heels’ two ranked wins.  
  • Matched her single-game high in goals (7) and points (9) against No. 11 Clemson.  
  • Followed with five goals and four caused turnovers against No. 21 Pitt.  
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF WEEK – Kate Bellissimo, Fifth Year, D, Stanford (Darien, Connecticut) 
  • Totaled two caused turnovers and four groundballs in the Cardinal’s 16-6 win over Virginia Tech.  
  • Led Stanford to its seventh-straight game holding opponents under 10 goals and the fourth time this season that the Cardinal have allowed six goals or less. 
  • Recorded eight caused turnovers as Stanford took down No. 22 Duke, shattering a 26-year-old program record of five caused turnovers in a game. 
  • Finished the week with 10 caused turnovers and 11 ground balls.
