Georgia Tech’s Burress, Virginia Tech’s Renfrow Named ACC Baseball Players of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Georgia Tech junior outfielder Drew Burress has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week, while Virginia Tech junior right-handed pitcher Brett Renfrow earned ACC Pitcher of the Week honors for games played April 20-26.
 
ACC Baseball Player of the Week
Drew Burress, Georgia Tech, OF, Jr. (Houston County, Ga.)
  • Hit .647 (11-for-17) over four-games with the Yellow Jackets going 4-0 on the week.
  • Went 4-for-4 with three runs batted in during Georgia Tech’s run-rule win over No. 5 Georgia at Truist Field on Tuesday, April 21.
  • Totaled seven runs batted in, eight runs scored, two doubles and a home run throughout the week.
  • Drove in the game-tying run on Saturday, April 25, as Georgia Tech completed its largest comeback this century, winning 14-11.
  • Led the Jackets to their third consecutive ACC sweep at home, logging multiple hits in each game.  
 
ACC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Brett Renfrow, Virginia Tech, RHP, Jr. (Manassas, Va.)
  • Threw 8.0 scoreless innings during the Hokies’ series-opening win against NC State.
  • Allowed just three hits, matching the lowest allowed to the Wolfpack this season.
  • Struck out nine NC State while throwing 76 of his 108 pitches for strikes.
  • Retired 12 consecutive batters from the fourth to eighth innings en route to matching his career high in innings pitched.
