CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced its Outdoor Track & Field Performers of the Week on Tuesday, recognizing six standout efforts from five different programs. Stanford led the way with a pair of selections following a fierce weekend of competition across the league.
ACC Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Geoffrey Kirwa, Louisville, So. (Kapsabet, Kenya)
- Opened his outdoor season by finishing as the runner-up in the 5000 meters at the Stanford Invitational.
- His time of 13:21.49 ranks second in the NCAA this season and first in the ACC.
- Broke his own program record, which he set at the 2025 Stanford Invitational, by nearly 10 seconds.
ACC Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Luke Buddie, California, R-Jr. (Woodside, Calif.)
- Competed in the decathlon for the first time in two years, winning the Bruce Hamilton Invitational with a personal-best score of 7168 points.
- Finished first in the long jump, shot put, high jump and 110-meter hurdles.
- Also posted personal bests in the 100 meters, 110-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1500 meters.
- His mark leads the ACC and ranks 11th nationally.
ACC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Freshman of the Week
Kendric Curry, Virginia, Fr. (Glen Allen, Va.)
- Posted a personal-best of 5.01m in the pole vault to win the Virginia Grand Prix.
- His mark ranks ninth in Virginia program history and 12th in the ACC this season.
ACC Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Mena Scatchard, Stanford, Sr. (North Yorkshire, United Kingdom)
- Impressed in her outdoor debut for the Cardinal, posting a pair of top-10 performances in program history.
- Won the 800 meters at the Stanford Invitational with a time of 2:00.50, ranking first nationally this season.
- She also finished as the runner-up in the 1500 meters, clocking a time of 4:09.29, ranking second in Stanford history.
- Her 1500-meter time ranks fourth nationally this season and second in the ACC.
ACC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Alyssa Jones, Stanford, Sr. (Homestead, Fla.)
- Posted a national-leading mark in the long jump, leaping 6.83 meters to win the event at the Stanford Invitational.
- The mark broke her own meet record, rewriting the record book for the second consecutive season.
- Also helped the Stanford 4x100-meter relay teams to a win, while posting a meet-best 11.35-second time in the prelims of the 100 meter dash.
ACC Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Freshman of the Week
Rylee Blade, Florida State, Fr. (Corona, Calif.)
- The California native went back to the Golden State to compete at the Stanford Invitational, placing fourth in the 5000 meters.
- Her time of 15:39.71 ranks fourth in Florida State history and third in the ACC this season.
