Miami’s Sosa, California’s Eddy Tabbed ACC Baseball Players of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Miami junior catcher Alex Sosa has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week, while California redshirt-sophomore right-handed pitcher Gavin Eddy earned ACC Pitcher of the Week honors for games played May 4-10.
 
ACC Baseball Player of the Week
Alex Sosa, Miami, Jr., C (Viera, Fla.)
  • Hit .692 (9-for-13) in Miami’s three-game series against Louisville.
  • Notched three home runs, two doubles, nine runs batted in and six runs scored throughout the series.
  • Posted a 1.385 slugging percentage and .733 on-base percentage.
  • Hit two home runs in a four-hit effort with five runs batted in to help Miami secure the series finale.
 
ACC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Gavin Eddy, California, R-So., (Calremont, Calif.)
  • Struck out 14 hitters over 7.0 innings against No. 23 Virginia.
  • His strikeout total is the most by a Golden Bear since 2011.
  • Allowed just one run on three hits throughout his fourth consecutive quality start.
  • Struck out the side in the first inning and carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning.
