Virginia Wins the 2026 NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship Title

ATHENS, Georgia (theACC.com) – Fourth-seeded Virginia capped off a stellar season on Sunday afternoon, rallying multiple times to defeat second-seeded Texas, 4-3, and capture the 2026 NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championship at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Georgia.

The title marks the Cavaliers’ seventh NCAA men’s tennis national championship — all earned since 2013 — and the first since winning back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023.

Virginia’s championship triumph also delivered the ACC its sixth NCAA team title of the 2025-26 academic year, joining NC State women’s cross country, Florida State women’s soccer, Virginia women’s swimming & diving, and Notre Dame men’s and women’s fencing.

After Texas claimed the doubles point to take the early lead, Virginia refused to quit. No. 21 Keegan Rice evened the match at 1-1 in emphatic fashion, earning a dominant 6-1, 6-3 straight-set victory on court two.

The Longhorns regained momentum with a win on court four, but the Cavaliers answered once again as Stiles Brockett delivered a 6-4, 6-4 victory on court five to tie the match at 2-2.

The back-and-forth battle continued throughout the afternoon. Texas moved ahead 3-2 with a win on court six, only for Virginia’s No. 114 Jangjun Kim to tie the match back up on court three. Kim captured the opening set 6-1 before battling through a tense second-set tiebreak to secure a 7-6 victory and knot the match at 3-3.

With the national championship hanging in the balance, all eyes turned to court one for a marquee showdown between Virginia’s No. 1 Dylan Dietrich and Texas’ No. 3 Sebastian Gorzny. The two top-five players delivered a thrilling finale worthy of the national stage.

Gorzny edged the opening set in a tiebreak, 7-6, before Dietrich responded with a resilient 6-4 second-set win to force a decisive third set. The 2026 ACC Player of the Year showcased the talent that made him the nation’s top-ranked singles player, battling to a 6-4 third-set victory to clinch the NCAA championship for the Cavaliers.
