Miami Defeats Boston College 8-2 to Reach ACC Baseball Semifinals

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – No. 5 seed Miami used a dominant performance on the mound to defeat No. 4 seed Boston College, 8-2, in the quarterfinals of the 2026 ACC Baseball Championship on Thursday at Truist Field in Charlotte, North Carolina.

With the win, Miami advances to face top-seeded Georgia Tech on Saturday, May 23, at 1 p.m. ET on ACC Network.

After surrendering two runs in the opening inning, the Hurricanes pitching staff settled in and held the Eagles scoreless over the final 8.0 innings. Miami starter Lazaro Collera (4-3) earned the win after allowing two runs on three hits with three walks and four strikeouts across 5.0 innings.

The Hurricanes’ bullpen took over from there, limiting Boston College to just two hits while striking out four over the final 4.0 innings.

Miami’s offense backed the pitching effort with 15 hits, led by Gabriel Milano, who went 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and a run scored, and Fabio Peralta, who finished 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored.

Kyle Wolff paced Boston College offensively, going 2-for-4 with a double and RBI, while Jack Toomey added an RBI single for the Eagles.

Boston College struck first with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. A Miami throwing error helped set up RBI hits from Toomey and Wolff to give the Eagles an early 2-0 advantage.

Miami responded immediately in the top of the second, erupting for four runs to take control. Peralta capped the inning with a two-run homer to left field that gave the Hurricanes a 4-2 lead.

The Hurricanes extended the margin in the fourth inning when Alex Sosa launched a two-run home run to left-center field, pushing the lead to 6-2.

Miami continued to add on with single runs in the seventh and eighth innings while the bullpen kept the Eagles off the board to secure the 8-2 victory.
