CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Top-seeded Georgia Tech slugged its way into the championship game Saturday afternoon, blasting three two-run home runs and riding a strong pitching effort to a 9-3 win over No. 5 seed Miami in the semifinals of the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Championship at Truist Field in Charlotte, North Carolina.
With the victory, the Yellow Jackets advance to Sunday’s ACC Championship Game, where they will face the winner of No. 2 seed North Carolina and No. 14 seed Pitt at noon ET on ESPN2.
Third baseman Ryan Zuckerman powered the Georgia Tech offense, finishing 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double, four RBIs and two runs scored. Catcher Vahn Lackey also delivered a big swing, launching a two-run homer while adding two walks, two RBIs and three runs scored.
Georgia Tech wasted little time taking control, erupting for a 6-0 lead behind Lackey’s first-inning blast and a pair of two-run home runs from Zuckerman in the third and fourth innings. The Yellow Jackets added another run in the fifth to stretch the advantage to 7-0 before Miami finally broke through in the sixth.
Vance Sheahan sparked the Hurricanes with an RBI double — Miami’s lone extra-base hit of the afternoon — and later scored on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 7-2. Six different Hurricanes recorded a hit as Miami finished with nine base knocks in the loss.
On the mound, Georgia Tech starter Jackson Blakely improved to 8-1 after limiting Miami to two runs on seven hits over 5.2 innings. The right-hander walked one and struck out three before turning it over to the bullpen, which held the Hurricanes to just one run over the final 3.1 innings.
The Yellow Jackets continued to tack on insurance runs in the sixth and seventh innings, while Miami added a final run in the eighth as Georgia Tech closed out the 9-3 victory and punched its ticket to Sunday’s title game.
