CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – No. 4 seed Virginia won the 2026 Allstate Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Championship on Sunday, May 3, rolling to a 16-6 victory over No. 2 seed North Carolina at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Cavaliers (10-6) captured their first ACC Tournament title since 2019 and claimed their 20th ACC Championship in program history – the most of any school.

Virginia goalie Jake Marek was named the ACC Championship’s Most Valuable Player after recording 28 saves in the tournament, including a season-high 16 on Sunday. He was joined on the All-Tournament Team by teammates Brendan Millon, McCabe Millon, John Schroter, Truitt Sunderland and Joey Terenzi. North Carolina was represented on the All-Tournament Team by Owen Duffy, Peter Thomann and Brady Wambach. Notre Dame’s Josh Yago and Syracuse’s Luke Rhoa also earned spots on the team.

McCabe Millon scored four goals and assisted on two more, while Sunderland recorded four goals and added an assist. James Matan led UNC (12-4) with two goals, as the Tar Heels were held to their second-lowest scoring output of the season.

After UNC scored the game’s first two goals in the opening five minutes, Virginia responded with a dominating all-around effort, reeling off 11 straight goals to end the first half while holding the Tar Heels scoreless for nearly 30 minutes of game time into the third quarter. Marek made 11 straight saves during that stretch.

Sunderland scored all four of his goals in the first half, while McCabe Millon recorded a hat trick as they accounted for seven of the 11 UVA first-half goals.

Trailing 11-2, UNC broke its scoring drought with 10:42 left in the third quarter on a Duffy goal.

The NCAA Tournament Selection Show will air at 9:30 p.m. ET on Sunday on ESPNU.
