Notre Dame’s Quatrani, Florida State’s Mendes Tabbed ACC Baseball Players of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Notre Dame junior catcher Mark Quatrani has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week, while Florida State junior left-handed pitcher Wes Mendes earned ACC Pitcher of the Week honors for games played April 27-May 3.
 
ACC Baseball Player of the Week
Mark Quatrani, Notre Dame, Jr., C (Philadelphia, Pa.)
  • Posted a .632 (11-for-19) batting average in Notre Dame’s four-win week, including a conference series sweep of Stanford.
  • Hit .643 (9-for-14) in the series against the Cardinal, logging two doubles, a home run, three runs scored and a team-high eight runs batted in.
  • Added a .947 slugging percentage and .625 on-base percentage over the four-game week.
  • On Saturday, the backstop added a four-hit, four-RBI game as the Irish took down Stanford, 10-7.
 
ACC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Wes Mendes, Florida State, Jr., LHP (Tampa, Fla.)
  • Threw a nine-inning complete game to lead Florida State to a 10-1 win over Pitt on Saturday.
  • Allowed just five hits with no walks and seven strikeouts on 105 pitches.
  • His outing was the first nine-inning complete game by a Seminole since 2018 and his second complete game of the season.
  • The doubleheader-opening win paced the series sweep for the Seminoles.
  • Earned his second ACC Pitcher of the Week honors this season, also receiving the weekly away on March 30.
