Florida State Wins 2026 Allstate ACC Softball Championship

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (theACC.com) - Top-seeded and ACC regular-season champion Florida State won its 20th Atlantic Coast Conference Softball championship title in program history on Saturday, May 9, taking down No. 3 seeded Virginia Tech, 2-1, in the 2026 Allstate ACC Softball Championship at Palmer Park in Charlottesville, Virginia.
 
The Hokies struck first, scoring on a throwing error from the Seminoles after a single to shortstop from Michelle Chatfield in the top of the first inning. 
 
Florida State answered with two runs in the bottom of the second off a Kennedy Harp double to right center, scoring Belle Ruggiero from first base. After the throw home, Harp advanced to third base before scoring on a passed ball to push the Seminoles in front at 2-1.
 
That was all that the Seminoles needed, as ACC Pitcher of the Year Jazzy Francik earned the win in the circle, throwing 6.0 innings with six strikeouts and did not allow an earned run. Francik was named the 2026 ACC Softball Championship MVP, striking out 10 batters and allowing just one earned run in 11.2 innings pitched. She recorded an ERA of 0.77 and held opponents to a .154 batting average.

Ashtyn Danely threw 1.0 scoreless inning with one hit, one walk and one strikeout for the Seminoles.

VT’s Emma Mazzarone struck out four batters in just 2.0 innings pitched in the title game, finished the championship with 21 strikeouts in 10.1 innings pitched in three appearances – the most strikeouts of any pitcher this tournament. She posted an ERA of 1.74 and held her opponents to a .158 batting average.

The Hokies had three members named to the 2026 ACC Softball Championship All-Tournament team in Bree Carrico, Chatfield and Mazzarone, while the 2026 Allstate ACC Softball Champion Seminoles’ led with four in Jaysoni Beachum, Danley, Francik and Isa Torres. Duke’s Jessica Oakland, Georgia Tech’s Addison Leschber and Louisville’s Bri Despines and Madison Pickens were also named to the all-tournament team.

Florida State, Virginia Tech and several other ACC programs will await their postseason destinations during the 2026 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament selection show on Sunday, May 10, at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
