Louisville and Pittsburgh Receive Weekly Volleyball Awards

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Louisville’s Melanie McHenry has been selected as the ACC Volleyball Player of the Week, and Pittsburgh’s Kayla Lund has been tabbed as the Freshman of the Week.
 
McHenry played a crucial role in the Cardinals’ wins over NC State and North Carolina, putting Louisville in the driver’s seat for the conference automatic qualifier. The sophomore outside hitter from Speedway, Indiana, racked up 30 kills against North Carolina, becoming the first Cardinal to record 30 kills in a match since 2011. In all, McHenry tallied 43 total kills, a .327 hitting percentage, 15 digs and eight blocks in the 2-0 week.
 
Lund shined for the Panthers in road victories over Clemson and Georgia Tech. The rookie outside hitter from Pasadena, California, notched 10 kills while hitting .389 percent against Clemson. Lund recorded 19 total kills, 10 digs, three blocks and hit at a .293 clip during the two matches.
 
ACC Volleyball action resumes Wednesday with seven matches to start the final week of regular season play.
