ACC Quick Hits
• After a weekend of conference play, ACC teams return to non-league play for the next three weeks before league play resumes on New Year's Eve. There is limited weekday action this week with several schools on breaks for final exams.
• Five ACC teams are ranked nationally in the Associated Press poll this week, the most of any league: Louisville (1), Duke (7), Virginia (9), North Carolina (17) and Florida State (21).
• One of eight remaining unbeaten teams, Louisville is ranked No. 1 in the AP poll for the second straight week, the fourth consecutive week an ACC team has occupied the top spot (Duke the previous two weeks).
• The Cardinals are the ninth different ACC team to ever reach the No. 1 AP ranking, two more than any other conference. Current ACC programs been ranked No. 1 for 318 weeks all-time.
• The ACC's strong start against non-league opponents includes four wins over top-10 foes: Duke vs. No. 3 Kansas (68-66, Nov. 5) at Madison Square Garden, Florida State at No. 6 Florida (63-51, Nov. 10), Virginia Tech vs. No. 3 Michigan State (71-66, Nov. 25) and Louisville vs. No. 4 Michigan (58-43, Dec. 3).
• ACC teams have claimed six MTE titles this season: Duke (Empire Classic), Florida State (Emerald Coast Classic), Louisville (Global Sports Shootout), Pitt (Fort Myers Tip-Off), Notre Dame (MABC Invitational) and Virginia (Air Force Reserve Tip-Off).
• Three of the top four freshman scorers in the nation hail from the ACC: UNC's Cole Anthony (second, 19.1 ppg), Virginia Tech's Landers Nolley II (third, 18.6) and Duke's Vernon Carey Jr. (fourth, 18.5).
• Notre Dame's John Mooney currently is leading the nation in rebounding and is the only player averaging a double-double in the ACC (14.9 ppg, 13.5 rpg). He is one of just three major conference players to be averaging a double-double.
• Louisville's Jordan Nwora and Duke's Tre Jones were tabbed the ACC Co-Players of the Week on Dec. 9, while Duke's Vernon Carey Jr. earned ACC Freshman of the Week honors for the second time this season.
