Notre Dame Sweeps ACC Fencing Awards

Greensboro, N.C. (theacc.com) - Notre Dame, which captured the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s and Women's Fencing titles for the fourth time in the last five years, swept the 2019 ACC Fencers of the Year Awards, claiming all six individual awards and coach of the year honors.

The awards were determined by a vote of the league’s four head coaches.

Irish head coach Gia Kvaratskhelia was voted the men's and women's coach of the year. This is the third time he's earned the men's honor and third time he's captured the women's award.

Notre Dame men who earned ACC Fencer of the Year honors include Stephen Ewart in the epee, Nick Itkin in the foil, and Malcolm Fields in the sabre.  The Irish women were led by Amanda Sirico, who captured ACC Fencer of the Year honors in the foil for the second straight season.  She was joined by teammates Amita Berthier in the foil and Kara Linder in the sabre.
