Duke, Louisville & NC State Receive ACC Men’s Tennis Weekly Honors

Greensboro, N.C. (theACC.com) – Louisville’s Tin Chen and NC State’s Alexis Galarneau have been named ACC Men’s Tennis Co-Players of the Week, and Duke’s pair of Spencer Furman and Luca Keist has been selected as the Doubles Team of the Week.
 
Chen led the Cardinals to a 4-3 upset of No. 10 Virginia in both teams’ ACC opener this past weekend. The junior from Pintung, Taiwan, clinched the match with a 7-6, 3-6, 6-4 win against Virginia’s No. 68-ranked Gianni Ross at No. 1 singles.
 
A senior from Laval, Canada, Galarneau shined in NC State’s road wins over No. 17 Michigan and Northwestern. He defeated Michigan’s Andrew Fenty, the 78th-ranked player nationally, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, to even the team score at 3-3, and took down Northwestern’s No. 123-ranked Steven Forman, 7-5, 6-0 to clinch another win for the Wolfpack.
 
Furman and Keist helped Duke to three wins on the weekend and went undefeated at their No. 1 doubles position. Furman, a senior from Seattle, Washington, and Keist, a junior from Rothrist, Switzerland, won all three of their doubles matches, including a 6-3 victory over the No. 36-ranked pair of Bruno Caula and Daniel Groom of UNCW.
