Greensboro, N.C. (theACC.com) – Miami’s Francisco Bastias and Notre Dame’s Richard Ciamarra have been selected as the ACC Men’s Tennis Co-Players of the Week, and Bastias and teammate Adria Soriano Barrera have been named the Doubles Team of the Week.
A sophomore from Mendoza, Argentina, Bastias led Miami to back-to-back ranked conference victories, over No. 38 Georgia Tech (4-2) and No. 45 Clemson (7-0), the first time Miami has accomplished this feat since 2008. He won both of his singles matches and both of his doubles matches on the weekend, playing at the No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles positions.
Ciamarra shined for Notre Dame in two wins over St. Bonaventure and a narrow loss to No. 4 Michigan. A junior hailing from Southington, Connecticut, Ciamarra won both of his matches at the No. 1 singles spot, highlighted by a 6-3, 6-2 win over Michigan’s 17th-ranked Andrew Fenty.
Soriano Barrera, a junior from Barcelona, Spain, teamed up with Bastias to win both of their matches at No. 2 doubles, including a 6-3 win against Georgia Tech’s Keshav Chopra and Andres Martin to clinch the doubles point.
