Florida State’s Heath, Louisville’s Griffiths Share ACC Golfer of the Month Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Florida State’s Charlotte Heath and Louisville’s Carmen Griffiths have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Women’s Golfers of the Month for October.

Heath earned her first career individual championship at the Landfall Tradition with a 10-under-par score of 206. The Landfall Tradition included 13 of the top 50 teams in the country and 22 of the top 100 ranked golfers in the nation. Heath defeated three of the top 10 golfers in the nation including No. 1 Hannah Darling of South Carolina, and her score of 206 is a Landfall Tradition tournament record and ties her personal best score for a three-round tournament. For the week, Heath totaled four of five rounds at par or better, including a 66 in the first round of the Landfall. She also finished 10th in the Ivy Intercollegiate stroke play and won her match play competition in that same tournament.

Griffiths had an outstanding October, recording her first collegiate victory at the Olde Stone Intercollegiate with a 2-under-par 214. She also finished third at the Blessings Collegiate in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and sixth at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational. Griffiths had her first collegiate ace in the second round of the Tar Heel Invitational en route to a 5-under-67, which was the lowest single-round score of the tournament. It was also the only hole-in-one of the tournament. Griffiths’ three-round total of 218 at the Blessings Collegiate came against a loaded field that included six ranked teams.
