Miami’s Sara Byrne Named ACC Women’s Golfer of the Month for October

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Miami fourth-year junior golfer Sara Byrne has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Golfer of the Month for October.

Byrne won two individual tournament championships during October and helped the Hurricanes to a pair of team titles at the Pat Bradley Invitational and the Hurricane Invitational.

During the Hurricane Invitational, Byrne broke numerous school records, including the best 18-hole score in program history with a round of 63 and the best 54-hole score in program history with a 197, 19-under par. Both marks were previously held by current LPGA golfer Dewi Weber.

Even more impressive is that Byrne flew more than 15 hours the day before the Hurricane Invitational as she was competing for Ireland at the 2023 World Amateur Team Championship (WATC) in Abu Dhabi.

Over the Hurricanes’ three tournaments, Byrne totaled seven rounds of par-or-better during October and had a tournament field-best 18 birdies at the Hurricane Invitational. She recorded at least one round of 65 or lower in all three events in which she played during the month – Ruth Chris’ Tar Heel Intercollegiate, Pat Bradley Invitational and Hurricane Invitational – and finished the month with a stroke average of 68.56 overall.
