Duke's Gold, Virginia Tech's Lemley Earn ACC Weekly Softball Awards

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Duke's Ana Gold earned the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week and Virginia Tech's Emma Lemley was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week for the second week in a row.

The ACC softball weekly awards are voted on by a panel from both the schools and the conference office. 

Gold helped lift the 12th-ranked Blue Devils to win their first conference series over Notre Dame after blasting a three-run walk-off home run. She finished the weekend hitting .533 with four home runs and 13 RBI. The Ballston Spa, New York, native closed out the series against the Irish going 3-for-8 with seven RBI, six runs, two walks and three home runs.

Lemley tallied her first three ACC wins over the weekend as No. 10 Virginia Tech swept NC State. The Forest, Virginia, native started in the first and third game and earned two wins, while also coming on in relief of the second game to earn her third. The sophomore gave up just one run through 16 innings pitched, struck out 24 hitters and only walked two, posting a .132 batting average against. In Game 1, she threw a two-hit shutout, while in Game 2, she struck out five batters in the final three innings. In Game 3, she gave up just three hits in the victory.
