CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - Atlantic Coast Conference men's soccer moves into its second weekend of regular-season play with a busy slate of matches over the Labor Day weekend.

Five ACC teams are ranked in the United Soccer Coaches, the most of any conference. Reigning national champion Syracuse tops the first poll of the regular season. The Orange are one of three ACC teams in the top 10, with Duke (3) and Pitt (8). Louisville moved into the poll this week at No. 13, while Wake Forest is No. 16.

ACC Network features a tremendous doubleheader on Tuesday evening, with a pair of matches featuring ranked opponents. At 6 p.m., No. 8 Pitt plays host to No. 5 Marshall, and at 8 p.m. No. 13 Louisville entertains No. 2 Kentucky in a Commonwealth showdown.

League play kicks off next Friday (Sept. 8), marking the first of eight straight weekends of conference action.

• ACC teams went 13-5-5 (67.4% win pct.) during the first week of the regular season.
• Conference play begins Friday, Sept. 8.
• Five ACC players were selected to the 2023 Hermann Trophy Watch List: F Alex Meinhard (Clemson), F Gage Guerra (Louisville), D Vemund Hole Vik (UNC), M Filip Mirkovic (Pitt) and D Garrison Tubbs (Wake).
• Five ACC teams are ranked in the United Soccer Coaches, the most of any conference. Reigning national champion Syracuse tops the first poll of the regular season.
• The Orange are one of three ACC teams in the top 10, with Duke (3) and Pitt (8). Louisville moved into the poll this week at No. 13, while Wake Forest is No. 16.
• Clemson has been chosen as the favorite to capture the 2023 ACC Championship following a vote of the league’s 12 head coaches. The Tigers were picked as the ACC favorite by six coaches.
• Clemson also was selected as the favorite to win the ACC’s Atlantic Division, while Pitt was voted the Coastal Division favorite for the third straight season.
• 16 of the 33 members of the 2022 All-ACC Team return this season, including four first-teamers: Ousmane Sylla (Clemson), Sander Roed (Louisville), Filip Mirkovic (Pitt) and Leo Afonso (Virginia). 
• 2022 All-ACC Second Team picks Amir Daley and Nick Pariano (Duke) and Garrison Tubbs and Roald Mitchell (Wake Forest) also are back this season.
• All 12 members of the 2022 All-Freshman Team returned to school this season, including ACC Freshman of the Year Kamron Acito (Duke).
• Syracuse won its first NCAA championship in program history in 2022. Following 110 minutes and a 2-2 draw, the No. 3 seed Orange outlasted No. 13 Indiana, 7-6, in a penalty-kick shootout.
• ACC teams have won 19 NCAA men’s soccer championships, including 10 since 2001.
• Syracuse was the fourth team in ACC men’s soccer history to win an ACC regular-season title, ACC Championship and NCAA Championship in the same season, joining Virginia (1991, 1992) and North Carolina (2011).
• Six active ACC head coaches have won national championships as a head coach: Mike Noonan (Clemson), Carlos Somoano (UNC), Jay Vidovich (Pitt), Ian McIntyre (Syracuse), George Gelnovatch (Virginia) and Bobby Muuss (Wake Forest).
• Seven current ACC programs have won at least one national championship, the most of any conference. Eleven different league programs have reached the Men's College Cup. Sixty-three ACC teams have reached the Men's College Cup all-time.
