WILMINGTON, N.C. (theACC.com) – Following day one of the 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Golf Championship, Clemson holds the top spot on the team leaderboard with a 10-under-par total of 278 following the first round of stroke play on Thursday at the Porters Neck Country Club in Wilmington, North Carolina.
This year, the ACC Women’s Golf Championship features 18 holes of stroke play on three consecutive days, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, to determine the individual champion. The top four teams after Saturday will advance to Sunday’s match play semifinals, and the winners will meet later in the day on Sunday in the championship match.
The Tigers were followed by Wake Forest (280, -8) in second place, while Virginia (283, -5), North Carolina (283, -5) and Virginia Tech (283, -5) are all in a tie for third place overall after 18 holes of play. Also shooting under par and in sixth after day one was Florida State (286, -2).
NC State (288, even) is in seventh, followed by Miami (293, +5) in eighth, Duke (294, +6) in ninth, Louisville (296, +8) in 10th, Boston College (297, +9) in 11th, and Notre Dame (298, +10) in 12th.
Clemson’s Isabella Rawl holds the individual lead at 5-under par, 67. She holds a two-shot lead over seven other golfers in Virginia’s Jaclyn LaHa (69, -3), Clemson’s Chloe Holder (69, -3), North Carolina’s Megan Streicher (69, -3), NC State’s Lauren Olivares Leon (69, -3), Wake Forest’s Brooke Rivers (69, -3), Virginia Tech’s Valentine Delon (69, -3), and Wake Forest’s Carolina Lopez-Chacarra (69,-3).
Eight other student-athletes are 2-under par after 18 holes, while 22 total players shot under par for the day.
